Proteus Digital Health, a Redwood City, Calif.-based “smart-pill” startup, Molly O’Neill has named as its chief commercial officer.
O’Neill, 51, previously worked in business development positions at several major health systems, most recently Tenet Healthcare Corp. In her new role, she will focus on developing partnerships with insurers, health systems and other providers.
Proteus customers swallow an ingestible sensor, which is embedded in a capsule containing generic medicine.
Once ingested, the sensor communicates with a receiver patch worn by the patient and sends data to a smartphone or other Bluetoothenabled device that can show whether the patient took the medicine and report on other metrics.
