As­cen­sion sells hospi­tals in Idaho, Wash­ing­ton state

As­cen­sion will sell hospi­tals in Idaho and Wash­ing­ton state to the for-profit hospi­tal com­pany cre­ated this sum­mer through the merger of Re­gion­alCare and Capella Health­care.

RCCH Health­Care Part­ners is buy­ing Lour­des Health in Pasco, Wash., and St. Joseph Re­gional Med­i­cal Cen­ter in Lewis­ton, Idaho. Terms were not dis­closed.

As­cen­sion, the Catholic hospi­tal gi­ant based in St. Louis, said the two sides sup­port main­tain­ing the faith­based her­itages of each hospi­tal.

“RCCH works with com­mu­ni­ties to build strong lo­cal health­care sys­tems that are known for qual­ity pa­tient care and its val­ues align closely with those of As­cen­sion,” said Robert Henkel, ex­ec­u­tive vice pres­i­dent of As­cen­sion.

The ac­quired hospi­tals bring RCCH’s to­tal hospi­tals to 19. RCCH is owned by pri­vate eq­uity com­pany Apollo Global Man­age­ment, which is re­port­edly in­ter­ested in buy­ing trou­bled Com­mu­nity Health Sys­tems.

Brent­wood, Tenn.-based RCCH cur­rently is in 17 re­gional mar­kets.
