Firefighters responded to a twoalarm fire at NYU Langone Medical Center last week.

Smoke billowed over part of a construction site within the medical complex in Manhattan. The hospital is still undergoing repairs for damage caused by Superstorm Sandy in 2012.

More than 100 firefighters responded to the blaze, which broke out on the seventh floor, New York Fire Department officials said. One person was treated for minor injuries.

NYU Langone is in the middle of building the Kimmel Pavilion, an 830,000-square-foot facility alongside its flagship Tisch Hospital. The project’s cost is $1.4 billion, according to the organization’s most recent financial statements. The pavilion is scheduled to open in 2018.

An NYU Langone spokeswoman said in an email that hospital operations did not cease but, as a precaution, some patients were moved to other parts of the hospital campus.

Officials were investigating the cause of the fire, and NYU Langone was still working to determine the extent of the damage late last week.

Smoke rises from a fire that broke out at NYU Langone on Dec. 14.
