President Donald Trump said nothing about healthcare or the pending repeal of his predecessor’s signature law, the Affordable Care Act, in his inaugural speech last week.
During his address Friday, Trump touched on policy issues of immigration, infrastructure, crime and foreign relations as the change of power took place amidst protest marches elsewhere in Washington and throughout the country. House Minority Leader Nancy Pelosi and several others wore blue buttons on their lapels that read #ProtectOurCare, a reference to opposition of the GOP majority’s promise to repeal the ACA. Shortly after Trump took office, the official White House website removed information on healthcare and climate change. Trump has called climate change “a hoax” despite scientific evidence of its effects.
