Joe Mul­lany, CEO of Detroit Med­i­cal Cen­ter for the past four years, was re­placed last week. He has been suc­ceeded by Dr. Tony Tedeschi, former CEO of Tenet Health­care Corp.’s four-hospi­tal Chicago mar­ket. Tenet is DMC’s par­ent com­pany.

Mul­lany was hired as pres­i­dent in 2012 by then-CEO Mike Dug­gan, who was look­ing for a re­place­ment to suc­ceed him if he was elected mayor of Detroit. Dug­gan was elected in Novem­ber 2013.

Be­fore join­ing Tenet, Tedeschi served as COO of pub­licly owned Cook County Health & Hos­pi­tals Sys­tem in Chicago.

Leslie Paul Luke has been named pres­i­dent and CEO of St. Joseph’s Health in Syra­cuse, N.Y., ef­fec­tive Feb. 20. He re­places Kathryn

Rus­citto, who an­nounced in 2016 she will re­tire.

Luke, 55, cur­rently serves as in­terim CEO of Ten­nova East, a seven-hospi­tal sys­tem in Knoxville, Tenn., part of Com­mu­nity Health Sys­tems. Luke joined CHS in 2006 and has held sev­eral lead­er­ship roles in the sys­tem.

Chad Mel­ton has been named CEO of Fauquier Health, based in War­ren­ton, Va., ef­fec­tive Feb. 13. He is re­plac­ing Rodger Baker, who will re­tire this year after 30 years as head of the or­ga­ni­za­tion.

Mel­ton, 40, most re­cently was CEO of Wythe County Com­mu­nity Hospi­tal, a LifePoint fa­cil­ity in Wytheville, Va. Pre­vi­ously he was di­rec­tor of op­er­a­tions at LHP Hospi­tal Group in Plano, Texas, where he over­saw op­er­a­tions at five acute-care hos­pi­tals. He also was CEO of Hack­en­sack­UMC at Pas­cack Val­ley in West­wood, N.J.

Paulina Tam has been named COO of St. Peters­burg (Fla.) Gen­eral Hospi­tal, an HCA fa­cil­ity. She suc­ceeds Stephanie

McNulty, who left to serve as COO of Largo (Fla.) Med­i­cal Cen­ter, also an HCA fa­cil­ity.

Tam, 36, was pre­vi­ously VP of op­er­a­tions at HCA’s Tampa (Fla.) Com­mu­nity Hospi­tal and di­rec­tor of per­for­mance im­prove­ment for sur­gi­cal ser­vices at HCA West Florida Divi­sion. She has also been the se­nior man­age­ment en­gi­neer for HCA’s South At­lantic Divi­sion.

Rachel Miles has been named chief nurs­ing of­fi­cer at HCA’s Med­i­cal Cen­ter of Aurora (Colo.), ef­fec­tive Jan. 30. She re­places Erica Ros­sitto, who was pro­moted to CNO of HCA’s HealthONE Con­ti­nen­tal Divi­sion in Den­ver, which in­cludes eight hos­pi­tals and six stand-alone emer­gency de­part­ments.

Miles, 37, has been CNO since Fe­bru­ary 2014 of North­east Methodist Hospi­tal, an HCA fa­cil­ity in San Antonio. Pre­vi­ously she was VP of nurs­ing for Methodist Health Sys­tem in Dal­las.

Allen Car­roll, long­time CEO of Bon Se­cours St. Fran­cis Hospi­tal in Charleston, S.C., will re­tire in May.

Allen, 59, has led Bon Se­cours St. Fran­cis for 22 years. The fa­cil­ity is one of Roper St. Fran­cis’ three hos­pi­tals. He joined Bon Se­cours St. Fran­cis in 1990 as COO and was pro­moted to CEO in 1995. Allen was named VP of op­er­a­tions for Roper St. Fran­cis after its merger was com­plete in 1998.

In 2015, Car­roll as­sumed ad­di­tional lead­er­ship re­spon­si­bil­i­ties at the sys­tem, lead­ing the plan­ning of a new Roper St. Fran­cis hospi­tal in Berke­ley County, S.C.
