Samuel Hazen

As president and COO of HCA, Hazen oversees operations that include 171 hospitals, 118 ambulatory surgery centers, and numerous outpatient facilities and physician practices across its 42 domestic markets and in the United Kingdom. Hazen, a 33-year veteran of HCA, has served in various senior positions, including president of operations from 2011 to 2015, which included similar responsibilities to his current role. In 2015, he was named COO, and in 2016 was promoted to president and COO. Hazen also served as president of HCA’s Western Group, which included all operations west of the Mississippi River and represented about half of the company’s revenue. Earlier, he served as chief financial officer in several divisions of HCA.
