Nancy How­ell Agee CARILION CLINIC ROANOKE, VA

Agee has served as pres­i­dent and CEO of Carilion Clinic, an in­te­grated health­care or­ga­ni­za­tion, since 2011. The or­ga­ni­za­tion in­cludes a mul­ti­spe­cialty physi­cian group, eight hos­pi­tals, the Jef­fer­son Col­lege of Health Sci­ences and a joint ven­ture med­i­cal school with Vir­ginia Tech lo­cated in Blacks­burg. Agee be­gan her health­care ca­reer as a nurse for the Carilion Clinic be­fore serv­ing in a va­ri­ety of man­age­ment roles and then be­ing ap­pointed vice pres­i­dent of med­i­cal ed­u­ca­tion in 1996. In 2000, she be­came sys­tem vice pres­i­dent and then was pro­moted again to chief op­er­at­ing of­fi­cer in 2001. Last year, she be­came chair­man-elect des­ig­nate of the Amer­i­can Hos­pi­tal As­so­ci­a­tion. She will as­sume the chair­man­ship in 2018.

Leah Bin­der LEAPFROG GROUP WASH­ING­TON, DC

For nearly a decade, Bin­der has served as pres­i­dent and CEO of the Leapfrog Group, a not-for-profit ded­i­cated to im­prov­ing qual­ity and safety at health­care provider or­ga­ni­za­tions. Un­der her lead­er­ship, the or­ga­ni­za­tion has launched a num­ber of ini­tia­tives, in­clud­ing the Hos­pi­tal Safety Score, which as­signs let­ter grades as­sess­ing the safety of hos­pi­tals across the coun­try. She is a reg­u­lar con­trib­u­tor to Forbes.com, the Huff­in­g­ton Post and the Wall Street Jour­nal on­line ex­pert fo­rum and sits on nu­mer­ous na­tional boards and coun­cils. Be­fore join­ing Leapfrog, Bin­der held a num­ber of other roles, in­clud­ing a stint as a se­nior pol­icy ad­viser to then-New York Mayor Ru­dolph Gi­u­liani and eight years as vice pres­i­dent at Franklin Com­mu­nity Health Net­work, Farm­ing­ton, Maine.
