Keep the facts coming in health reform debate

Modern Healthcare - - COMMENT -

Regarding the ongoing coverage of the Republicans’ efforts to repeal and replace the Affordable Care Act, the GOP assault on the underserved is beyond disheartening. If the savings they propose were to be directed toward education and occupational training, infrastructural improvements, affordable housing, sustainable energy and farming rather than tax breaks for the most financially solvent, I could understand their motives.

Unfortunately, their actions will further divide rather than unite our society and the blissfully ignorant majority of their base will also find themselves unwittingly in their leaders’ crosshairs.

We must continue to expose thinly veiled lies and misinformation campaigns labeled as “fake news” with objectivity, facts and unwavering honesty. Truth must prevail or history is destined to repeat itself—economic fascism disguised within the democratic process.
