HCA to ac­quire Weather­ford med­i­cal cen­ter from CHS

Com­mu­nity Health Sys­tems last week con­tin­ued to shed as­sets as it looks to re­duce nearly $15 bil­lion in debt.

The Franklin, Tenn.-based health sys­tem an­nounced that it reached an agree­ment to sell Weather­ford Re­gional Med­i­cal Cen­ter to HCA Health­care for an undis­closed price.

The 103-bed med­i­cal cen­ter out­side Fort Worth, Texas, will be­come part of HCA’s Med­i­cal City Health­care net­work when the deal is com­pleted; that’s ex­pected to hap­pened by this fall, pend- ing the cus­tom­ary reg­u­la­tory re­view.

“The ad­di­tion of Weather­ford Re­gional to our Med­i­cal City Health­care fam­ily will help us im­prove pa­tient ac­cess in the Fort Worth area,” Sam Hazen, pres­i­dent and COO of HCA, said in a state­ment.

Nash­ville-based HCA Health­care, the na­tion’s largest op­er­a­tor of in­vestor-owned hos­pi­tals, pro­posed to of­fer an undis­closed amount of se­nior se­cured notes last month to fund new ac­qui­si­tions. HCA op­er­ates 174 hos­pi­tals through­out 20 states and its Med­i­cal City Health­care net­work in­cludes 13 hos­pi­tals.
