As­cen­sion taps Me­mo­rial Her­mann ex­ec­u­tive to head Texas di­vi­sion

As­cen­sion Health­care picked Craig Cor­dola to re­place Je­sus Garza as its se­nior vice pres­i­dent and the min­istry mar­ket ex­ec­u­tive of As­cen­sion Texas ef­fec­tive Sept. 1.

As­cen­sion Texas in­cludes Prov­i­dence Health­care Net­work in Waco and Se­ton Health­care Fam­ily in Austin, the par­ent of Dell Chil­dren’s Med­i­cal Cen­ter of Cen­tral Texas.

Cor­dola “will be in­stru­men­tal in lead­ing the on­go­ing in­te­gra­tion of As­cen­sion Texas, work­ing to co­or­di­nate strate­gies and ap­proaches and pro­mote align­ment with com­mu­nity physi­cians and other part­ners,” Pa­tri­cia Mary­land, CEO of As­cen­sion Health­care, said in a state­ment.

Cor­dola is cur­rently se­nior vice pres­i­dent of 19-hos­pi­tal Me­mo­rial Her­mann Health Sys­tem and pres­i­dent of its west re­gion, where he over­sees op­er­a­tions of in­pa­tient and out­pa­tient ser­vices at the hos­pi­tals and am­bu­la­tory sites.

He is the lat­est ex­ec­u­tive to leave Hous­ton­based Me­mo­rial Her­mann, which has been go­ing through staffing re­duc­tions and changes in lead­er­ship over the past sev­eral months.

Prior to his cur­rent role, Cor­dola was CEO of the Me­mo­rial Her­mann-Texas Med­i­cal Cen­ter cam­pus.
