Mod­ern Health­care wins two 2018 Neal Awards

Mod­ern Health­care is pleased to an­nounce its staff has won two Jesse H. Neal Awards. Cre­ated in 1955, the Neal Awards have long been con­sid­ered the top prize in busi­ness-to-busi­ness jour­nal­ism awards.

Shelby In­surance re­porter Liv­ingston, Pat art di­rec­tor Fanelli and dig­i­tal graph­ics Fan Fei pro­ducer were hon­ored with the best sin­gle ar­ti­cle award for their April 2017 story on in­sur­ers’ role in ac­cess to ad­dic­tion treat­ment. With the death toll ris­ing from opi­oid ad­dic­tion, Liv­ingston’s re­port­ing re­vealed that “opi­oid ad­dic­tion isn’t treated with ur­gency like other chronic and deadly dis­eases.”

This is the sec­ond con­sec­u­tive award for Fanelli and Fei, who won last year for best in­fo­graph­ics. Har­ris Meyer Se­nior re­porter won the best news cov­er­age award for his body of work re­port­ing on con­gres­sional ef­forts to re­peal and re­place the Af­ford­able Care Act. Meyer’s re­port­ing went be­yond the day-to-day drama un­fold­ing in Wash­ing­ton, D.C., and pro­vided read­ers with in­sight­ful anal­y­sis on the real-world im­pact of pro­posed pol­icy changes.
