Mel Fisher Maritime Museum
Mel Fisher was a famous treasure hunter who made his fortune searching for Spanish galleons off Florida’s coast. While Fisher’s motives were to find treasure, a part of him also wanted to preserve the history that all of these finds held. To this end, Fisher founded the Mel Fisher Maritime Museum, which holds some of the artifacts found during his exploration.
Today, the museum is a 501 (c) (3) accredited non-profit organization dedicated to preserving maritime history in its many forms. A visit will open your eyes to all of the historical aspects of man’s relationship with the sea.
