What It Is: The Hero is a high-protein (15 grams), high-fiber (11 grams), low-net-carb (4 grams) treat. The latter characteristic is due to the presence of allulose — a unique type of sugar found naturally in some fruits with very different properties than regular sugar. In short, it passes through the body without being metabolized and has virtually zero calories. The bar also contains a blend of muscle-building milk protein and whey protein isolates, listed as the first ingredients on its label, no less. Great taste, high protein, minimal carbs to be stored as fat — quite Hero-ic, really. What It Tastes Like: The allulose is sweeter than its nutrient profile would suggest, so the bar gets an A grade on taste, whether you’re eating the vanilla caramel, chocolate caramel pecan or blueberry cobbler flavor. What’s In It: NTM to OMM caloriesi NR to NT grams proteini OT to OV grams total carbs (4 grams net carbs), 7 to 11 grams fat, 10 to 11 grams fiber (depending on the flavor) Where To Get It: qhe Vitamin Shoppe and vitamin; $20.99 for a box of 10 bars.
