Mustang Owner’s Museum Announces Grand Opening Date

Mustang Monthly - - PONYTALES -

Like you, we’re excited to see the progress from the Mustang Owner’s Museum location in North Carolina. The biggest news yet came to our inbox recently as the museum’s construction progress was shared with us along with the news that the museum had chosen a grand opening date.

As of this writing the main structure framework is up and the pre-fab walls should be on-site soon. The museum is speculating completion of the main building by the end of 2018 and will need an additional few months to complete the interior and move in vehicles and displays, taking final completion into March of 2019. With April 17, 2019, the 55th anniversary of the Mustang, happening roughly a month later it was decided to hold the grand opening on that date due to its significance in the Mustang community. The grand opening will include several events, hosted parties, and more over the course of four days (April 17-20).

However, the big surprise the museum staff shared with us is that the museum will also be hosting a 55 Years of Mustang event at the nearby Charlotte Motor Speedway on the same dates. One registration is all you need to attend both events. Your registration will include credentials to attend both the grand opening of the Mustang Owner’s Museum and the 55 Years of Mustang at Charlotte Motor Speedway. The 55 Years of Mustang event at Charlotte Motor Speedway will include open track, exhibits, vendors, seminars, parade laps, and much more, with all Mustangs parking inside Charlotte Motor Speedway.

The grand opening of the Mustang

Owner’s Museum event will include a welcome party, the induction of the Museum’s Hall of Fame members, and a Saturday night banquet with guest speakers. On the evening of April 18, 2019, the museum has also planned to attempt to break the Guinness World Record for a Mustang Parade, which is currently held by an event in Mexico. After a couple of unsuccessful attempts at past events, the museum is hoping that with the 55 Years of Mustang event and the grand opening of the Mustang Owner’s Museum there will be enough Mustangs in attendance to beat the previous record. Even better, the existing infield roads at Charlotte Motor Speedway will be used for the record attempt, with no need to use exterior public roads or having to factor in weather.

Additionally, the museum has reopened its Legacy Brick purchase program. As the final exterior plans worked out, the museum needs additional bricks for the sidewalks leading to the museum entrance. All Legacy Bricks will be manufactured at the same time and shipped to the Mustang Owner’s Museum in early March 2019. Any one ordering a replica brick will be able to pick up their extra brick at the brick-laying party or at the Grand Opening/55 Years of Mustang event.

The Mustang Owner’s Museum website has details on these plans, along with the link to register for the events. On June 1, if not sooner, the museum website will have links available for the host hotel options in the area so you can make reservations.
