ADRIAN NASAFOTIE (HOPI)

Native American Art - - CARVINGS -

Born in Tuba City, Arizona, but raised in nearby Moencopi and Shongopavi, Adrian Nasafotie (Corn Clan) has already risen to the top of the carving world after his Best of Show win at the 2016 Santa Fe Indian Market. His winning piece, a massive work that extended up and out in a dramatic and technically advanced carving, captivated marketgoers and brought well-deserved attention to his beautiful and colorful work. This year he will once again bring large, contemporary carvings to market. His works, he says, represent the katsina dancer and are also “used as a teaching tool of the Hopi to respect one’s self and all living things…they teach to live in harmony and appreciate the simple things in life.”
