Terion John, 12 years old, be­gan paint­ing around the age of 9 af­ter years of watch­ing his brother and sis­ter paint. “Art has been al­ways been part of my life; it has taught me about my cul­ture and how each piece has a story be­hind it. I want my art­work to help other peo­ple un­der­stand the Navajo cul­ture,” says Terion. His acrylic paint­ings are strik­ing, with bright bleed­ing col­ors on the can­vas. Terion says he loves mix­ing col­ors and cre­at­ing ab­stract art. This year, he’s been get­ting into wood carv­ing as well, bring­ing to the 2018 mar­ket a sculp­ture crafted from Hawai­ian koa wood, in­spired by Ni­a­gara Falls.
