Gaga pulls out of Rock in Rio, posts photo of IV in her arm
NEW YORK » Lady Gaga has been hospitalized and forced to pull out of the upcoming Rock in Rio music festival in Brazil, citing “severe physical pain” and posting a photo of what resembles an IV in her arm.
The 31-year-old singersongwriter wrote on Twitter that she had to take care of her body and asked fans for their “grace and understanding.”
Her representatives said in a statement Thursday that Lady Gaga was suffering from “severe physical pain” that affected her ability to perform and that she was under the care of “expert medical professionals.”
It wasn’t clear what she was suffering from or where she was being treated. She posted a photo on Instagram of her arm with a needle in it and a tube running outside the photo’s frame.
Rock in Rio, which starts Friday, is to feature Maroon 5, Fergie, Aerosmith, Bon Jovi, Red Hot Chili Peppers and Guns N’ Roses.
Earlier this month, Lady Gaga postponed a Montreal concert, citing laryngitis and a respiratory infection. She has previously said she suffers from chronic pain from fibromyalgia.

Adam Levine is set to become a father of two.
The Maroon 5 singer’s wife, model Behati Prinsloo, posted a picture of herself with a slightly bulging stomach on Instagram Wednesday. The caption of her photo read: “ROUND 2.” Levine’s publicist has confirmed that the couple is expecting a baby.
Levine and Prinsloo married in 2014. Their daughter Dusty Rose Levine was born a year ago.
Levine’s 13th season as a judge on the NBC reality competition “The Voice” begins later this month.
Fergie and Josh Duhamel separate after 8 years of marriage
NEW YORK » The eight-year marriage of Fergie and Josh Duhamel is over.
The singer and actor confirmed Thursday that they had decided to split up earlier this year, but kept the news quiet to give their family “the best opportunity to adjust.”
Fergie and Duhamel have a son, Axl, who was born in 2013. They said in a statement that they would always be united in their support of each other and their family.
Fergie is a member of the Black Eyed Peas. She released her solo debut, “The Dutchess,” in 2006, and is releasing “Double Dutchess” later this month.
Duhamel has appeared on TV shows including ABC’s “All My Children” and in films such as “Transformers.”
The breakup news was first reported by People magazine.
