UNH shuts down Saint Anselm

Devin Martin fin­ished with a ca­reer-high 137 yards and two touch­downs and the New Haven foot­ball team held Saint Anselm score­less over the fi­nal three quar­ters en route to a 23-7 North­east-10 win in Manch­ester, New Hamp­shire on Satur­day.

Ajee Pat­ter­son com­pleted 19-of-29 passes for 307 yards and three touch­downs for the Charg­ers (2-1, 1-1 NE10). Justin White added in 116 yards re­ceiv­ing, while Da­mon Rodgers added a 12-yard touch­down re­cep­tion in the sec­ond quar­ter.

New Haven held the Hawks to just 247 to­tal yards, in­clud­ing just 75 yards in the pass­ing game. The Charg­ers also forced a pair of in­ter­cep­tions, the first late in the sec­ond quar­ter and the fi­nal one at the goal line that New Haven turned into a 12-play, 99yard scor­ing drive.

Saint Anselm fell to 0-3 (0-2 NE-10).

QUIN­NIP­IAC 11, SAINT PE­TER’S 0 » At Jersey City, New Jersey, Nadya Gill had three goals and three as­sists as the Bob­cats set a program record with 11 goals in this Metro At­lantic Ath­letic Con­fer­ence win.

Kelsey Goldring added two goals and three as­sists as eight dif­fer­ent Bob­cats scored. Quin­nip­iac im­proved to 4-4 (1-0 MAAC).

MERRIMACK 3, NEW HAVEN 0» At West Haven, Ste­fano Lorusso matched his sea­son-high with 10 saves, but the Charg­ers were held to two shots on goal in this NE-10 loss.

New Haven fell to 0-5 (0-2 NE-10). FORD­HAM 1, QUIN­NIP­IAC 0 » At Ham­den, Janos Loebe scored the game’s lone goal with just over 22 min­utes re­main­ing to send the Bob­cats to a loss.

Women’s vol­ley­ball

SCSU 3 LE MOYNE 2 » At Syra­cuse, N.Y., the Owls scored the fi­nal three points of the fifth game to rally for a 2520, 23-25, 25-23, 15-25, 16-14 win in the NE-10 opener for both teams.

Three play­ers notched dou­ble-dou­bles for SCSU (8-2, 1-0) — Leanna Jadus (18 kills, 14 digs), Gabriela Vazquez (12 kills, 18 digs) and Alexan­dria Jur­gens (17 as­sists, 14 digs). NEW HAVEN SPLITS » At Rookville, New York, Mal­lory Now­icki com­bined for 16 kills over the two matches as the Charg­ers beat Wil­im­ing­ton in three sets and fell to host LIU Post in three sets. Kali Great­head had a 13 kills and 10 digs in the win over Wil­im­ing­ton for the Charg­ers (4-7).
