Re­cent prison clo­sures save tax­pay­ers $42.6 mil­lion a year

The Rad­gowski An­nex Build­ing at the Cor­ri­gan-Rad­gowski Cor­rec­tional Cen­ter in Montville closed in April 2017 at sav­ings of $3 mil­lion per year.

Four hous­ing units within the Os­born Cor­rec­tional In­sti­tu­tion closed Oc­to­ber 2016, sav­ing $2.2 mil­lion a year.

The Niantic An­nex of the York Cor­rec­tional In­sti­tu­tion closed in Jan­uary 2016, sav­ing $7.6 mil­lion per year.

The Fair­mont build­ing at the Bridgeport Cor­rec­tional Cen­ter closed in July 2015, sav­ing $2.1 mil­lion a year.

The Ber­gin Cor­rec­tional In­sti­tu­tion in Storrs shut down in Au­gust 2011, sav­ings $12 mil­lion per year.

The Gates Cor­rec­tional In­sti­tu­tion in Niantic closed in June 2011, sav­ing of $12.3 mil­lion per year.

The Web­ster Cor­rec­tional In­sti­tu­tion in Cheshire shut down in Jan­uary 2010 sav­ing $3.4 mil­lion per year.
