▶ The East Haven Rotary Club’s second annual “Anginette Wars” fundraiser held in the East Haven High School atrium drew 35 bakers and more than 400 attendees. The winners:
Judges’ picks: best overall cookie: Emily Meise, theme, Roaring ‘20s; first runner up: Judy Brito, theme, Cookie Land; second runner up: Debbie Donofrio.
Spectators’ votes: best tasting cookie: Rosemary McNiven, theme, The Greatest Cookie on Earth; best decorated cookie: Gail Nettleton, theme: Cookie Land; best table design: Gary Acabbo, theme: Adam & Eve and the Garden of Anginettes.
Judges were author Anthony Riccio; Jocelyn Maminta, of News8, and Brian Spyros, of News8, and master of ceremonies was John “Cadillac” Saville, of Country 92.5.
▶ The Shelton Historical Society received an Award of Merit from the Connecticut League of History Organizations for its interpretation of the Brownson House on the grounds of the Shelton History Center, 70 Ripton Road.
