BOYD, BARBARA COOPER

New Haven Register (Sunday) (New Haven, CT) - - BUSINESS -

Barbara C. Boyd, beloved wife of deceased Roger W. Boyd, died peacefully surrounded by family at Evergreen Woods retirement home, North Branford, CT, on Wednesday, August 2nd 2018. Barbara was born in Wallingford on June 15, 1920, as the daughter of Clarence and Ethel Cooper. She is survived by her daughter Sally Boyd Jegier, of Holland PA, and her son Bryant C. Boyd of Madison, CT, granddaughters Erika Oman of Long Branch, New Jersey and Christina Boyd of Redding, CT and grandsons Dirk Oman of Chesterfield, PA and Nicholas Boyd of Lakeville, MA, as well as two great granddaughters Charlotte and Clementine Boyd. Barbara resided with her husband Roger for 60 years in Orange, participated together with him actively in numerous town charities and other local activities, and worked for over a decade as assistant assessor in the Orange Town Hall. She also had many creative talents which found their expression in sewing, embroidery, knitting and in particular quilting for which she won a number of awards. She loved to travel, and to host guests from abroad, including exchange students. But we will remember her most for her contagious enthusiasm for life, her energy, her generosity, her keen sense of humor, and her love of cooking, baking and entertaining of family and friends. She was an amazing - inspiring - mother and grandmother in every respect, and our family will miss her dearly.

Barbara is predeceased by her husband Roger Boyd Sr., her oldest son Roger Boyd Jr., and her 3 siblings Gerald Cooper, Lloyd Cooper and Charlotte Stone. A memorial service will be held on Saturday, August 18th, 10:00 a.m. at the Orange Congregational Church, to which all are welcome. In lieu of flowers, the family suggests donations to the Alzheimers foundation.
