Ta family crisis at Monday night's presidential debate by keeping personal life out of it — sort of. flirted with the idea of making legendary extracurricular love life part of the presidential debate, but pulled his punches at the request of his daughter
according to a source close to the situation.
“The reason he didn’t do it is because Ivanka pleaded with her father not to get involved in a personal fight,” we’re told.
According to our insider, Ivanka convinced the Republican nominee that invoking the 42nd President’s affair with White House intern as well as his relationship with aspiring model
while he was Arkansas governor, could backfire and rub undecided women voters the wrong way. We’re told that Trump’s campaign coordinator, who before the debate made strides in toning down the bombastic businessman’s rhetoric, seconded the notion. During the debate, Trump hinted that he “was going to say something extremely rough to (Hillary) and her family,” but held back.
Trump continued with the passive-aggresive innuendos afterwards when he told CNN, “I’m really happy I was able to hold back on the indiscretions in respect to Bill Clinton, because I have a lot of respect for he said. When pressed to elaborate, Trump said, “Maybe I’ll tell you at the next debate.”
Our insider tells us Ivanka also had nonpolitical reasons for asking The Donald to keep families out of it: Chelsea Clinton, Hillary and Bill’s 36-year-old daughter, is a longtime friend (photo inset) and she'd like to keep it that way.
“Ivanka is still trying to protect her relationship with Chelsea by doing this,” we’re told. We’re also told it isn’t lost on Ivanka that her father cheated on her mother, with his second wife, and she doesn’t need the world to be reminded of that.
“The family is trying to keep his punches above the belt,” we’re told. Our insider says that The Donald has made no such promises for the next debate, which is on Oct. 9.
“He probably feels he didn’t come out on top and wishes he’d gone for the knockout,” we’re told.
