HIS HANDS still cuffed behind his back, a Bronx teen escaped police custody — and was arrested 17 hours later, officials said.

Narciso Rosario, 19, surrendered to authorities Tuesday afternoon with his lawyer by his side.

It’s unclear if Rosario (photo inset) was still cuffed when he turned himself in.

Cops originally busted him for drug possession after finding four Percocet pills in the center console of his car following a traffic stop at 9:40 a.m., Monday, on E. 178th St. near Hughes Ave.

But he gave police the slip as they tried to subdue his friend who had tried to fight them off.

Police Officers Richard McKnight and Dharlyn Vasquez handcuffed Rosario, forcing him down on the pavement, then turned to 26-year-old passenger Juan Sanchez, an alleged gang member who is on parole for a shooting in 2010, police sources said. As the cops wrestled Sanchez to the ground, Rosario seized the opportunity, police said.

He got up and ran toward E. 179th St., where he disappeared.

Paramedics took Sanchez to St. Barnabas Hospital with minor injuries.

Charges against Rosario and Sanchez are pending.

The NYPD began an all-out search for Rosario, who lives only a block and a half from where he was arrested.

Rosario has an extensive rap sheet, which includes a burglary conviction in May and several marijuana possession arrests, according to a police source.

Rosario was the 10th prisoner to escape NYPD custody in the past year and a half, police said. All have been recaptured. Seven prisoners gave cops the slip between June and December 2015, police said.

Officers McKnight and Vasquez remained on active duty Tuesday as the department investigates the incident, police sources said.
