Energy — and wallet — drain

-

Staten Island: So National Grid wants to increase our rates to clean up toxic sites (“Superfund’s toxic impact on rates,” Oct. 24). Don’t we have more than enough on our backs already, with property taxes that go up every year even when house values decrease? Rents also have gone through the roof. And you can’t even watch TV without paying an arm and a leg. That is if you can even afford a TV. Please don’t get me started about “affordable health care.” National Grid’s CEO and other executives make millions of dollars every year and expect us to foot this bill. Is this a joke? When will someone speak up for us, the disappearing middle class? Phyllis O’Callaghan
