Slugger Andy: KO bigwig pay
ALBANY — Gov. Cuomo is seeking to strip the state Athletic Commission’s chairmanship position of its $101,600 annual salary.
Cuomo made the proposal in his 2017-18 spending plan unveiled last week.
The move — and the fact it was tucked into the transportation portion of the budget proposal — raised some eyebrows.
Cuomo budget spokesman Morris Peters defended the idea, arguing that most state boards are unpaid policy-making bodies.
The Athletic Commission, which is part of the state Department of State, oversees boxing and mixed martial arts in the state.
