Donald’s Tweet-le dee-fense

- BY JESSICA SCHLADEBECK

PRESIDENT TRUMP touted his power to pardon Saturday — although he suggested no one in his administration needs a get-out-ofjail-free card.

“While all agree the U.S. President has the complete power to pardon, why think of that when only crime so far is LEAKS against us,” Trump wrote during a morning Twitter spree. “FAKE NEWS.”

The 140-character broadside targeted The Washington Post for a Friday story indicating the President was inquiring about how presidential pardons work, and whether he could even pardon himself.

But that was just the tip of the Trump-berg as the President banged out a 10-tweet avalanche of angst and attitude.

The Post was cited in an earlier tweet regarding its report that Attorney General Jeff Sessions had discussed campaign-related matters with Russian Ambassador Sergey Kislyak while serving as Trump’s foreign policy adviser.

“A new INTELLIGENCE LEAK from the Amazon Washington Post, this time against A.G. Jeff Sessions,” Trump snapped. “These illegal leaks, like (ex-FBI head James) Comey’s, must stop!”

The President then took a few minutes to plug his new White House communications director Anthony Scaramucci, whose appointment led to the resignation of Sean Spicer.

Scaramucci had previously criticized Trump as a “hack politician” and tweeted in 2012 that The Donald was an “odd guy. So smart with no judgment.”

As Scaramucci deleted all his old tweets Saturday, Trump offered absolution to his new spokesman.

“In all fairness to Anthony Scaramucci, he wanted to endorse me 1st, before the Republican primaries started, but didn’t think I was running!” Trump wrote.

Trump also defended his son Donald Jr. over the 2016 Trump Tower meeting with Russians promising dirt on Hillary Clinton. He even managed to squeeze in a shot at the former First Lady.

“My son Donald openly gave his e-mails to the media & authorities whereas Crooked Hillary Clinton deleted (& acid washed) her 33,000 e-mails!” Trump said.

In a bit of a non sequitur, Trump closed his morning free-association rampage with a brief tirade on health care.

“ObamaCare is dead and the Democrats are obstructionists, no ideas or votes, only obstruction,” wrote Trump. “It is solely up to the 52 Republican Senators!”
