Qns. dealer in spike rap
A QUEENS drug dealer has been arrested for spiking his narcotics with the highly potent painkiller fentanyl, prosecutors said Saturday. Bernard Lewis was charged with reckless endangerment and a range of drug dealing offenses. His wife, Catrice Brown, was also charged with helping peddle the poison. Lewis, 45, was ordered held without bail when he was arraigned in Queens Criminal Court Friday night. His wife was ordered held on $50,000 bail. When authorities raided Lewis’ place last week, they recovered a large rock of fentanyl, 750 glassine envelopes of the opioid and almost $3,000 in cash, prosecutors allege. The cases grew from a longterm probe into near-fatal Queens overdoses. Phone taps revealed Lewis’ communications with six people looking for drugs. The buyers were also arrested. Drug analysis showed the presence of fentanyl, which is 30 to 50 times more powerful than heroin.
