Fake news gal tapped as GOP flack

- Jason Silverstein

ONE DAY, she’s praising President Trump’s agenda on Facebook. The next day, she’s speaking for the Republican Party.

Kayleigh McEnany, a controversial former CNN commentator, was named the new Republican National Committee spokeswoman Monday — a day after she debuted in one of Trump’s “real news” videos.

McEnany said in a statement that she would remain a regular on TV, talking about “Republican ideas and values.”

Her sudden promotion came only two days after she announced her exit from CNN, where she was a die-hard Trump supporter.

On Sunday, McEnany unexpectedly appeared on “Trump TV,” a self-promoting video series run on Trump’s Facebook page.

Her first video, which was styled to look like a legitimate news broadcast, mixed accurate boasts about high job numbers with dubious claims about the economic downsides of immigration.

She signed off the clip by saying, “Thank you for joining us, everybody. That is the real news.”

Just in time for McEnany’s hiring, the RNC flubbed facts on its Twitter account, praising “UNPRECEDENTED ECONOMIC GROWTH UNDER @POTUS!”

Presidents Bill Clinton and Jimmy Carter both outpaced Trump’s performance, creating 1.25 million and 2.14 million new jobs, respectively, in their first six months.
