GRAND EXIT?

-

“I think in baseball there are going to be a lot of ups and down,” Montero said of his development. “I will continue to do all the work I do.”

And that will get him yet another chance with the Mets.

Sunday, Curtis Granderson was a little nostalgic heading into what could be his last Subway Series. The 36-year old outfielder said he always enjoyed the energy in the city and the ballparks when the Mets and Yankees played. With his contract up, Granderson, the only current player to have played for both teams, doesn’t know if he will ever be a part of one again.

But Monday, he was all business.

Granderson hit his 18th homer of the season in the Mets 4-2 loss to the Yankees. It was his 69th in this ballpark.

But it special.

“I was just trying to do something to get the offense going, help the team win,” Granderson said. “It’s good to score first. But we need to keep going.”

With his plans for next season uncertain, Tuesday could be Granderson’s last game at Yankees Stadium, a place very friendly to him.

“I haven’t really thought of it that way,” Granderson said. “I’ll be back here somehow. As a player, or to watch a game.

“I am thinking more about how fun it will be to have the series head to Citi Field.” wasn’t
