$50M urged to fight bias crime

- Jillian Jorgensen Dems push censure Glenn Blain

REP. Nydia Velazquez will introduce a bill to spend $50 million more in federal funds to fight hate crimes following a violent white supremacists rally in Virginia this weekend, the Daily News has learned.

The Democrat, whose district includes parts of Brooklyn, Manhattan and Queens, has authored the Hate Crimes Victims Assistance Act, which she plans to introduce when the House is back in session.

The bill would provide $50 million in federal funds to tackle hate crimes, including $15 million for local law enforcement hate crime training. THREE HOUSE Democrats, including Rep. Jerrold Nadler of Manhattan, are leading a charge to censure President Trump for saying “both sides” were to blame for the violence in Charlottesville, Va.

Nadler, along with Rep. Bonnie Watson Coleman of New Jersey and Rep. Pramila Jayapal of Washington State, plan to formally introduce a resolution Friday to “censure and condemn” Trump for his response to this weekend’s Unite the Right rally and the ensuing violence.
