JUDGE, MEET JUDGE

-

Aaron Judge said he and Gary Sanchez got to meet Supreme Court Associate Justice Sonia Sotomayor Thursday before the series opener with Boston. Sotomayor didn’t appear to offer any hitting advice.

“Pretty cool experience getting to meet her, say hello to her. She’s from the Bronx, big Yankee fan,” said Judge. He added that Sotomayor told him and Sanchez, “It was great to meet you guys. Just keep doing what you guys are doing. It’s fun to watch. You guys are doing something special here.” Sotomayor sat in the “Judge’s Chambers” section behind right field for a few innings… According to a source, Sanchez’s and Austin Romine’s appeals are still being scheduled, and there are ongoing settlement talks between baseball and the Players Association. Sanchez was suspended four games, and Romine two for their part in a brawl with the Tigers last week. Ken Rosenthal of The Athletic reported that delay in scheduling almost assures both players will be available for the rest of the series with Boston...

Girardi said he would go with a fiveman rotation for now, but would change to a six-man rotation after Thursday’s off day.
