CABLE MAY LET HIM BE A YAP DOG
CHRIS CHRISTIE may have to settle for a TV job. The New Jersey governor — who’d tried out unsuccessfully for a sports radio gig — is reportedly talking to MSNBC and CNN about becoming a contributor after his term ends. “Yes. They are talking about a possible deal,” an NBC source said. Representatives from both networks declined to comment. One source told the network Christie was not close to signing a deal with either network. New Jersey ethics rules prohibit the governor from entering into serious negotiations with cable news networks and other organizations while in office. The governor’s spokesperson, Brian Murray, declined to comment on Christie’s plans once his term ends. “He has not discussed publicly what he plans or wants to do,” he told CNN. Christie previously auditioned to replace WFAN’s sports host Mike Francesca. He was scrapped as a candidate for the role in August, and later claimed he’d withdrawn himself as a candidate. The governor will leave office in January.
