Goodson, Odell questionable

was bothering Goodson before, clarifying that it occurred in Friday’s practice.

“It happened (Friday) and he got sore as practice went on,” McAdoo said. “We pulled him out.”

Friday’s practice, the longest of the week, was especially grueling, according to some players.

“If he’s not able to go it’s next man up,” said Jason Pierre-Paul. “B.J. is a good linebacker, but at the end of the day, in this game of football you have to stay healthy and injuries happen.”

Goodson led the NFL in Week 1 with 18 tackles, so even if he plays it will be worth watching if he is at all hindered by the injury.

“Eighteen tackles, that’s a lot of tackles, man,” Pierre-Paul said. “Hopefully he’s able to go. We’ll see come Monday night.”

Meanwhile, whether or not Beckham plays still remains the biggest question. The wide receiver was projected as limited in Saturday’s walkthrough, but McAdoo said whether or not he plays will be a medical decision and it sounds as if they are handling him with caution. “The biggest thing is we don’t want to put a player who is going to do more harm or injure himself more than he already is,” McAdoo said. “It’s a tough injury and he’s fighting through it and doing everything he can to get back.”

Beckham categorized his injury as a “six to eight week thing” on Thursday but it is clear the Giants need him back on the field after mustering just three points against the Cowboys in Week 1.

Beckham’s presence and impact can extend beyond the offense, too.

“Odell is a special person. He’s the best wide receiver in the league,” Pierre-Paul said. “Anybody with a special talent can lift up the whole team.”

But Pierre-Paul also warned that while Beckham can lift the whole team, the Giants cannot rely on him alone.

“That’s not what team is,” Pierre-Paul added. “Team is everybody coming together playing as one. We can’t depend on one guy otherwise you’ll never find yourself in the same place. Odell is a special kind of player and hopefully he’s ready to go. If not, the next guy has got to step up.”
