Lewis said that David told him he’d have to ask his wife before considering giving away that much money. “He came back and said, ‘No, the family’s against it,’” according to Lewis. But Lewis and David do disagree about one very important part of this story, according to Lewis.
“Here’s our big argument about that. I promised him I would pay him back and he says, ‘No, you didn’t,’” Lewis recalls. “He says, ‘No, you never said that.’ To this day I know I would never take a million dollars and not try to monthly or yearly pay him back, but he doesn’t believe me.”
What David later did give Lewis was a job on “Curb Your Enthusiasm,” which turned into money. The show returns for its ninth season on HBO on Oct. 1. BuzzFeed is about to get a whole lot buzzier.
