Mad Dog: Sign Kaep or shut up

-

CHRIS (Mad Dog) Russo is calling out the owners of the Giants.

John Mara and Steve Tisch were the first NFL owners to condemn President Trump for calling players who kneel during the national anthem a “son of a bitch,” saying his remarks were “inappropriate, offensive and divisive.” Russo said that is not enough. “Put your money where your big fat mouth is. Cut Geno Smith and sign (Colin) Kaepernick,” the Sirius XM radio host said Monday.

Kaepernick, who spearheaded the movement of taking a knee during the anthem to protest police brutality and inequalities against minorities, is not on a team and many believe he is being blackballed from the league.

Earlier this year, Mara did not explicitly say he did not want Kaepernick, but made it clear what the feedback was from fans. “All my years being in the league, I never received more emotional mail than I did about that issue,” he told MMQB in April. “It wasn’t one or two letters. It was a lot. It’s an emotional issue for a lot of people. More so than any other issue I’ve run into.” — Healy
