Through shoulder injury

year. After breaking his leg in the 2015 season finale, Wilkerson totaled just 4.5 sacks in 2016 as he coped with the lasting effects of offseason surgery.

Wilkerson — who is in the second year of a five-year, $86 million deal — needs to produce this season if he’s going to remain with the Jets after 2017. And now he must do so while batting through yet another injury.

When asked Wednesday if he’s frustrated by that fact, Wilkerson snapped: “I’ll be all right. I told you I’ll be all right. I’m not frustrated or anything.”

Bowles said there’s been no thought about shutting down Wilkerson for a week to help the shoulder heal.

“Everybody has nicks and bruises they got to play with,” he said. “It’s that time of year.”

Wilkerson admitted a week off would help, but it won’t come until November. “Bye week,” Wilkerson said. On the other side of the defensive line, Leonard Williams is dealing with a wrist injury that should persist for the entire season, as well.

Williams was limited in practice Wednesday. He has a bone bruise in the joint and wears a sizable wrap/cast during games.

“It’s going to be delicate,” Bowles said of Williams, who played 48 snaps Sunday. “We got to understand when he’s in a lot of pain and when he’s not. It’s going to have to be managed every week all year, so it seems.”
