Apolice force usually swift to close ranks on officers accused of wrongdoing rightly shows no such favor to two detectives indicted last week on allegations of heinous crimes.

Brooklyn prosecutors charged Det. Eddie Martins and Det. Richard Hall with forcing sex on a cuffed 18-year-old woman by way of offering her release from arrest.

The duo say it was all consensual. Not kidding. They’ve been demoted. An internal judge will decide at a trial starting Tuesday what happens next.
