Feinstein: Women will win more elex

- Denis Slattery

ARIZONA SEN. Jeff Flake was caught on a hot mic saying that the GOP is “toast” if it becomes the party of President Trump and Alabama Senate candidate Roy Moore.

Flake made the comment to Mayor John Giles of Mesa, Ariz., following a Fr iday town hall event.

“If we become the party of Roy Moore and Dona ld Trump, we are toast,” th e Republican senator can be heard saying.

Flake, who is not seeking re-election, has made a habit of openly attacking the leader of his party. He has also spoken out against Moore, whose campaign has been rocked by multiple allegations that he preyed on teenagers while in his 30s.

Flake’s biting remark came after Giles had earlier asked the senator about the possibility of running for President in 2020.

“I am not throwing smoke at you,” Giles replied to Flake’s hot-mic prediction. “But you’re the guy that could, just for fun — think about how much fun it would be — just to be the foil, you know, and to point out what an idiot this guy is.” SEN. DIANNE Feinstein believes sexual harassment allegations that have rocked the country could lead to a wave of women entering politics.

“I predict based on what I see out there that we are going to have another Year of the Woman,” Feinstein said on Saturday, according to the Los Angeles Times.

The California Democrat sees 2018 as a possible follow up to 1992, the year that she and several other women were first elected to Congress.

Feinstein, 84, told the women’s caucus at the California Democratic Party executive board meeting she was overwhelmed by the women who have spoken publicly about sexual assault and misconduct recently after accusations against Hollywood producer Harvey Weinstein. “I’ve watched mesmerized at the lack of fear of every woman that has come forward,” she said.

Feinstein, facing a primary challenger next year, touted her experience and seniority in the Senate in fighting for those who have been sexually harassed or assaulted. “We have an opportunity to really turn this next year into a year of change affecting women,” she said.
