Blaz: Panel nix just ‘happened’

- Jillian Jorgensen and Kenneth Lovett

“IT HAPPENS.”

That was Mayor de Blasio’s response in dismissing questions about why, for the first time during his tenture, he rejected a nomination to a mayoral judicial advisory panel by the state chief judge.

The Daily News reported Monday de Blasio rejected the nomination of lawyer Daniel Horwitz, who was nominated to the panel by state Chief Judge Janet DiFiore. Horwitz, as the one-time chairman of the state Joint Commission on Public Ethics, was part of a lawsuit against the Campaign for One New York, the now-defunct nonprofit created by de Blasio to push his agenda.

De Blasio did not cite that suit when discussing the move.
