JON ON THE SPOT

-

Jon Halapio, 26, made his first career NFL start at right guard on the Giants’ offensive line Thursday in place of the injured and inactive D.J. Fluker (toe). That meant the Giants were starting an eighth different offensive line combination in 11 games so far. It also meant Halapio and starting right tackle Chad Wheeler had one career start combined entering Thursday’s game: Wheeler played well in his first career start in Sunday’s win over the Chiefs.

Halapio, a sixth-round pick of the Patriots in 2014, has appeared in four games for the Giants this year, the first four NFL appearances of his career, but had played only seven offensive snaps prior to Thursday. All of them were at right guard in place of Fluker.
