Widow suing CBS in wake of self-sex death
THE WIDOW of a man who died from autoerotic asphyxiation is suing CBS after the network allegedly denied her life insurance claim, according to a report.
Deborah Conradi’s husband, Lawrence LaFave, was found dead in a Tarentum, Pa., hotel room closet in June 2016, TMZ reports.
The 65-year-old veteran engineer was discovered hanging by a scarf from a closet shelf. He was dressed in a slip, bra and pantyhose, according to TMZ’s reporting on the suit.
The medical examiner ruled that Conradi died from accidental asphyxiation.
But LaFave’s CBS life insurance policy, provided by AIG, excludes death by autoerotic asphyxiation — meaning the insurer doesn’t want to pay up, TMZ reports.
AIG explained in a letter to Conradi that autoeroticism poses deadly risks — and doesn’t count as an “unanticipated accident that resulted in his death, as required by our policy.”
Conradi maintains that her husband’s death was accidental. She’s seeking $1,400,000 in life insurance benefits, as well as punitive damages from both CBS and AIG.
