Pelosi vows ‘due process’ for rep

-

Trump went on a Twitter attack Sunday against Doug Jones, Moore’s Democratic opponent for the seat Jeff Sessions vacated to become attorney general.

“Can’t let Schumer/Pelosi win this race,” Trump tweeted, while mentioning Senate Minority Leader Chuck Schumer. “Liberal Jones would be BAD!”

As for Conyers — whose fall began with documents leaked to internet troll and fringe blogger Mike Cernovich — Pelosi said repeatedly that he would “do the right thing.” She would not answer when asked whether that right thing would be for him to resign. Pelosi said an Ethics Committee probe would determine the veracity of the allegations. Asked if she personally believed the accusers, she said, “I don’t know who they are. Do you? They have not really come forward.” With Conyers out, New York Rep. Jerrold Nadler (photo) becomes the ranking Democrat on the panel. “Even under these unfortunate circumstances, the important work of the Democrats on the House Judiciary Committee must move forward,” said Nadler (D-Manhattan and Brooklyn).

“I will do everything in my power to continue to press on the important issues facing our committee, including criminal justice reform, workplace equality and holding the Trump administration accountable,” Nadler said.
