Better vision — A gift that never goes out of style

-

Chances are, you or someone you know wears glasses for vision correction. Perhaps you have a friend or family member who has battled eye disease. When asked to name conditions of the eye, often the first that come to mind are refractive errors such as nearsightedness and astigmatism, or dry eye and “lazy eye;” then there are more serious conditions such as cataracts, glaucoma, and macular degeneration. What do all of the above have in common? While they range in severity (and not all present obvious early symptoms), all can be detected during the course of a comprehensive eye exam, and your team of eye care professionals can recommend proper treatment options and/or corrective eyewear as necessary. UV-blocking sunglasses (prescription or plano) shield the eyes from the sun’s damaging rays, and should be worn whenever you spend time outdoors, to protect and maintain eye health.

Some people do not have vision insurance. Or they have it, but their benefits only cover an exam every two years, and their eye doctor recommends an annual exam due to current health conditions, family history, or other risk factors. Without coverage, though, many neglect their eye care; fortunately, the Metro Optics Vision Club package is an ideal option:

for those who don’t have eye care insurance.

as a supplement when vision benefits only cover services every other year.

The $99 Vision Club membership covers a comprehensive eye exam at any Metro Optics location, plus a pair of glasses (single-vision or bifocal, with standard lenses) from the Vision Club selection. If you’re looking beyond the basics, the Vision Club also entitles members to discounts on frame and lens upgrades, as well as second pairs and sunglasses. Metro’s e-commerce site, www.metrooptics online.com, offers easy online sign-up for the Vision Club. All major credit cards are accepted.

Have you had a hard time finding conventional glasses that fit around your nose bridge? Or perhaps the temples usually feel too short/ long/tight, or the shape doesn’t look quite right?

Following a one-minute biometric 3D-scan at Metro Optics’ locations in Throggs Neck or Westchester Square, patients can now build their very own Roger Bacon customized glasses: our opticians will guide you through the selection process where you’ll “try on” a variety of colors and shapes using our virtual app, and then place a personalized order for eyewear that is 3D-printed to perfectly suit your unique facial features, measurements, and style preferences.

If you’re looking to give a practical holiday gift, Metro Optics staff will “dress up” a new pair of sunglasses, a supply of contact lenses, sports or safety eyewear, or a gift certificate (to put toward those awesome tailor-made glasses) in a custom Gift Basket with all the trimmings!

Metro Optics has three Bronx locations: in Parkchester at 1332 Metropolitan Avenue; 25 Westchester Square; and its Flagship, 815 Hutchinson River Parkway. Reach any location via the main phone number, 1-800230-EYES. A vast library of eye health information is available on the main Metro Optics website www.metrooptics.com.
