Rob-spree con back: cops

- Thomas Tracy

AN EX-CON on lifetime parole for a robbery spree in Greenwich Village more than 20 years ago has been arrested again for trying to pick up where he left off, police said.

Cops on Friday arrested Marshall Coleman, 47, for robbing a 32-year-old woman inside her building on Grove St. and Bedford St. about 11 p.m. on Nov. 3. Surveillance video shows him grabbing the victim by the hair before taking her handbag. The victim’s belongings were found strewn on the street a short distance away.

Investigators quickly linked the robbery to Coleman, who was released from prison last year after serving 19 years for a robbery spree in Greenwich Village. Police said between March and May of 1996, Coleman robbed five people. In many of the cases he jumped his victims in the vestibule of their apartment buildings, police sources said.

His arraignment for his current arrest was pending Saturday.
