Man found dead in Bx. was shot

- Thomas Tracy

A MAN FOUND dead on a Bronx sidewalk had been shot in the head at nearly pointblank range, police sources said Saturday.

The victim, identified by sources as Teddy Gibson, was found Thursday sprawled out on the concrete near the corner of Truxton St. and Worthen St. in the Hunts Point section of the Bronx about 10:20 p.m.

The 38-year-old Hamilton Heights resident died at the scene.

“Looks like someone really wanted him dead,” said a police source, referring to the execution-style shot.

There were apparently no witnesses to the shooting, sources said. Someone called 911 after the victim was found on the ground. No arrests have been made. Detectives spent Saturday canvassing the streets near where Gibson was found in the hope of recovering video footage that could shed light on the killing.

Gibson’s death was the third slaying in the 41st Precinct this year. Eight homicides were reported in the precinct last year, cops said.
