Fire is doused at Clinton compound
A FIRE broke out in a house on Bill and Hillary Clinton’s sprawling Westchester County compound Wednesday afternoon, officials said.
The former President and exsecretary of state was not home when the blaze erupted on the second floor of a small house behind the main residence in Chappaqua around 2:40 p.m., a Secret Service spokeswoman told the Daily News.
A Secret Service agent called 911 and managed to put out the fire with an extinguisher, the spokeswoman added.
No one was injured, but the blaze prompted a massive emergency response. Investigators did not immediately reveal what sparked the fire.
Nick Merrill, a spokesman for Hillary Clinton’s presidential campaign, said the fire happened in a facility used by Secret Service agents.
“The Clintons were not home. All is ok!” Merrill tweeted.
The Clintons bought the fivebedroom home for $1.7 million and have been living there since 1999.
