Trial is eyed soon for ’12 killer nanny

- Shayna Jacobs

THE UPPER West Side nanny accused of murdering two of the children she was looking after five years ago could finally go on trial by the end of the month, a judge said Monday.

Yoselyn Ortega, 55, stands charged with fatally stabbing little Lulu and Leo Krim, 6 and 2, inside their family’s W. 75th St. apartment on Oct. 25, 2012.

Ortega — who had been a trusted fixture in the Krim family for years prior to the tragedy — sliced her own throat after allegedly killing the children.

Manhattan Supreme Court Justice Gregory Carro said jury selection could start within days of Ortega’s next appearance on Jan. 22.

The parties are negotiating what will be on the jury questionnaire — a survey handed out as the first step in weeding out potentially unfit panel prospects.

Ortega’s attorney is expected to lodge a psychiatric defense.
