If it’s your birthday

- FRIDAY, MARCH 16 — SUNDAY, MARCH 18 ALTERNATE SIDE PARKING RULES ARE IN EFFECT FRIDAY AND SATURDAY

SAM

Major traffic alert Saturday for Manhattan and the Bronx! The St Patrick’s Day Parade takes over Fifth Ave., and in the Bronx, part of the Hutchinson River Parkway is closed all weekend, while the Major Deegan is down to two lanes northbound near Yankee Stadium, which has a Major League Soccer match.

Traffic tieups from St. Pat’s won’t be as bad as most years since it’s on a weekend, but they will last longer. That’s because crowds are bigger on a Saturday and dispersal takes longer so expect Fifth Ave. from 86th to 42nd Sts. to close from just after 9 a.m. and open later than usual at around 7 p.m.

The Hutchinson River Parkway closes both ways between I-95 and the Cross County Parkway tonight at 11 p.m. and won’t reopen until 5 a.m. Monday. This will also mean more traffic on I-95 and the Bronx River Parkway.

The Major Deegan (I-87) only has only two northbound lanes open from 154th St. to Macombs Dam Bridge until March 21. Watch out Saturday afternoon, when nearby at Yankee Stadium, the New York City Football Club takes on Orlando City Soccer Club at 3:30 p.m.

Sunday from 6:30 a.m. to 1 p.m., the NYC Half Marathon will close part of Flatbush Ave., some of the Manhattanbound Manhattan Bridge, the northbound FDR up to 42nd St., and part of 42nd St and Seventh Ave. Check If you’re close to finishing something, you must finish; and if you’re close to beginning something, you must begin. This is a time not just of transitions, but of acknowledging and acting on the gains you have made. Some of these may seem intangible, as they’ve been so inwardly focused. Yet growth is its own reward, and expresses itself many ways. You share a birthday with Rebecca Cole, Tommy Flanagan, and Alan Tudyk. MARCH 21-APRIL 19 Attitudes, values and emotional currents do not change quickly, even for a fiery Aries such as yourself. Yet the tide does eventually turn, and you’re close to that point now. You have reached certain limits, and you need to expand your range. It’s time to want more from life, and to get it. APRIL 20-MAY 20 You seem much better adapted to see the world from the viewpoint of a close partner. It’s as if you’ve walked a mile in his or her shoes, and have gained respect through direct experience. In the future, you can shorten this process, and begin with reverence for what you don’t know. MAY 21-JUNE 20 For you, success is not so much about cracking the glass ceiling as it is about recognizing it’s not really there. Most barriers are in people’s imagination, as is nearly all drive to accomplishment. There are times when you know you can make your dreams real such as right now. JUNE 21-JULY 22 It’s not so new in the new year, though the spring equinox (exact March 20) is a significant turning point in your professional life. Be vocal with yourself about your plans and your ambitions. Make sure a few of your goals are bigger than you think you can accomplish and go for it. JULY 23-AUG. 22 Over the past few years, you’ve faced many challenges that have pushed you to the edge. You have learned that we all walk a fine line, and that every day is precious. You have reached a turning point in your journey and in your healing process. This is something to celebrate. AUG. 23-SEPT. 22 Clarity is something people could stand to offer more of. One of the agonies of the world is how often we feel left in the fog, in the dark, or in silence. You have the ability to light the way, to clear the air and to speak the truth. This will lift a burden from you, and everyone around you. SEPT. 23-OCT. 22 There seems to be someone in your environment who you want to make contact with, but are not sure how to do it. You can be patient, because you’re likely to encounter the person in a meaningful but unexpected way fairly soon. Meanwhile, bide your time, and stay happy. OCT. 23-NOV. 21 There’s something you need to say, but have not been able to find the words or the courage. It looks like this has been building up for weeks or longer. However, you will need to find a calm, moderate way to express yourself. Once you get started, you may not be able to stop. NOV. 22-DEC. 21 Mars is about to leave your sign, and enter the zone of your chart associated with finances. This will pump your motivation and, quite likely, your success. But make sure that if you have a boon, you save most of it rather than spend it. Consider that to be investing in yourself. DEC. 22-JAN. 19 We all deal with an inordinate amount of fear these days, whether about personal matters, or global ones. You’ve been learning a lot about how to handle anxiety. Coming developments suggest strongly that you work it out physically. Push it through your body, and you’ll feel better. JAN. 20-FEB. 18 This weekend’s New Moon in the angle of your chart associated with confidence and self-esteem will help you gain some clarity and ease some of your doubts. Yet, rather than take this as a onetime benefit, you can notice the process, and learn how to guide yourself to a better place.
