Yes, I wanted wife beaten with hammer

- Andrew Keshner

A FORMER corrections officer pleaded guilty on Friday to trying to arrange a hammer beating of his estranged wife and her new beau.

George Gonzalez tried recruiting gang members for a beatdown he wanted to appear as a robbery, according to Brooklyn federal prosecutors.

In recorded talks and meetings from November 2016 to January 2017, Gonzalez, then assigned to the Metropolitan Detention Center, told the would-be attackers to travel to Florida and “take a hammer to the spine” and make the pair suffer “for the rest of their lives.”

Gonzalez had a court order requiring him to stay away from the woman he was divorcing after more than 20 years of marriage.

But it turned out the gang members Gonzalez believed he was talking with were undercover federal agents. He was arrested in January 2017.

Gonzalez, 55, admitted to soliciting someone to carry out the hammer attack, as well as keeping guns despite a protection order demanding he give them up.

He faces up to 12 years behind bars.
