Lawyers are left in limbo
DREAMERS ARE BIG LOSERS
PRESIDENT TRUMP’S shaky legal team is struggling to find solid ground.
Veteran Washington attorney Joseph diGenova has still not formally joined Trump’s Russia probe team and his role is still in flux — even though his hiring was announced earlier this week, according to a personfamiliar with the matter.
Trump attorney Jay Sekulow announced diGenova’s new job Monday, but a source told the Daily News Friday that he still had not been officially hired and the nature of his position had not yet been determined.
DiGenova’s wife and fellow lawyer, Victoria Toensing, is also supposed to join the team, but her position is also on ice.
The uncertainty comes one day after the resignation of John Dowd, Trump’s lead attorney handling the special counsel probe. Dowd didn’t offer a reason for his departure but he has reportedly drawn the President’s ire by trying to steer him away from his wish to sit down with Robert Mueller for an interview.
DiGenovahas publically pushed a dubious conspiracy theory that there's a secret society within the Justice Department bent on undermining the Trump presidency.
Toensing represents Mark Corrallo, a former spokesman for Trump who has been interviewed by Mueller regarding a June 2016 Trump Tower meeting between campaign officials and a group of Russian operatives promising “dirt” on Hillary Clinton. PRESIDENT TRUMP said Friday that he’ll ban transgender troops from the military, but left room for ambiguity.
In a memo released Friday night, the White House followed through on the ban, which the president announced on Twitter in July citing the supposed “disruption” and “burden” of medical costs.
“Transgender persons with a history or diagnosis of gender dysphoria — individuals who the policies state may require substantial medical treatment, including medications and surgery — are disqualified from military service except under certain limited circumstances,” the memo states.
